What You’ll Do 

  • Ensure the furnace is properly adjusted and maintained to achieve efficient melting of batch materials. 
  • Perform optical readings and conduct routine inspections above, below, and around the furnace to identify flames, openings, or hot spots. Inspect the batch charger visually. 
  • Verify that hoses remain cool to the touch and check the operation of fans, pumps, and the external water-cooling system. 
  • Adjust air, fuel, and gas levels as needed to sustain proper melting conditions. 
  • Promptly notify the supervisor and relevant departments of any issues.

  • Experience in industrial electrical, mechanical, machining, or welding

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in heat or outdoor conditions

Pay and Benefits

Competitive starting wage of $23.75/hr.

  • Wage increases (based on successful performance evaluations) after first 90 days and at six-month intervals.

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledgeable about industrial safety including ability to use required PPE.
  • Must be 18 years of age to apply
  • High School Diploma or GED desired
  • Basic math and reading skills
  • Sit in air-conditioned control room to monitor and make adjustments to furnace on a computer console. 
  • Climb stairs and ladders.
  • Walk on uneven surfaces on the furnace crown.
  • Walk under furnace, perhaps stooping while walking, and visually inspect refractory over head.
  • Bend or squat to apply mortar where needed.
  • Pull, push, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Stoop, sweep, and bend to clean.
  • Be certified annually to wear a respirator.

Schedule

Cardinal Menomonie offers a 12-hour rotating shift (days/nights), working a 2-2-3 schedule. Working half the days of the year, and every other weekend off.
